Right. So, I like to cook. Also, I'm vegetarian; one of those ovo-lacto types. Here are some of my favourite resources:

  • Worlds Healthiest Foods - this has a wonderful list of healthy produce and why it's good for you.
  • Food Substitutes - Full colour pictures, descriptions and substitutes for every ingredient on the planet (minus some).
  • "On Food and Cooking" by Harold McGee - This book is encyclopedic with a chemistry primer in the back. No recipes -- only history, techniques and particulars on produce.
  • "The Modern Vegetarian Kitchen" by Peter Berley - Or as I like to call it, 101 ways to use Kombu. But really, it's apparent how much thought has gone into the recipes. They vary from basics like making curry powder to an involved twenty-three hour sourdough recipe.
